Rapa Nui

The second part of our trip is Easter Island or known locally as Rapa Nui.  I have learned a lot about the Moai on the island.  We have had a wonderful tour guide Kava that has taught us so much about the island. Okay, he has taught me a lot. The kids have whined. And complained. And been miserable.  So, maybe in hindsight not the best place to take kids. More of an adult trip.

But, the truth is I am not sad we are here.  I feel so grateful to experience this island.  The people are incredibly friendly and welcoming. They want to educate about their island. They are so proud of the island and it's history, which according to me is really interesting (it is super boring according to my kids).  I feel incredibly safe here.  I also felt incredibly safe in Eco Camp in Torres del Paine and in Punta Arenas.  I didn't quite know what to expect of Chile, but it has met and exceeded expectations.

Another great part of travel is trying new things and liking them.  I am eating Ceviche. Vegetarian ceviche AND tuna ceviche.  With bigs chunks of Tuna. And I ordered it...twice!  It is craveable!

Also, if you think it is all fun and games, my kids are just as big of pain in the asses here as they are at home.  But they too are growing as people.  Becoming the best version of themselves (I hope or at least I tell myself).  We are struggling with one wants to do one thing, the other wants another.  They want to be on their iPads or just chill.

Here are some pictures of the island below and some of us.  And some of the delicious ceviche.

  1. Oh but what an experience, hoping they adjust as you go, but kids will be kids. It looks beautiful!
